Ardscoil Rath Iomgháin is a second level school operated by Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board. However it is locally managed by a Board of Management composed of members of the KWETB, parents, teachers and the wider community.

Agreed Report 10-12-2024

  • We will continue to review our curriculum provision.

  • We will await the final MML report to identify and plan areas in the school that need further work.

  • It was a wonderful honour for the school to see Eabha Kelly receive the Fergal Quinn award for highest results in the LCA exam in June.

  • Also congratulations to Damian O’ Connor who received one of the highest results in the Engineering exam in June.

  • The Board passed the updated Critical Incident and Code of Positive Behaviour policies. 

  • The Board thanked staff for the commitment and time they give to facilitating all the activities in the school.

Agreed Report 05/03/2025

  • The board acknowledged the commitment of staff to the school and students. It was very impressed with the number of initiatives in the school.

  • The board members paid tribute to management and staff for the very positive MLL Report.

  • Well done to the Science Dept and TY students on a very successful scifest. 

  • Congratulations to all the sporting teams on their recent successes.

  • The Review of the Curriculum is now completed. Thank you to the staff for their engagement with the process.

  • The hard work that is going into improving our attendance and student behaviour was acknowledged by the board members.

  • Also they were impressed with the  work of the teaching and learning group in experimenting with AI 

  • The Mobile phone Policy was ratified by the board.

 

Agreed Report 15/05/2025

  • The Review of the Posts of Responsibility  was ratified by the board.

  • AIB Sparks: 

The TY students that opened the Thrift shop and helped with the hampers were shortlisted for the AIB Sparks Award. Unfortunately they did not win any money but received the AIB Sparks School Impact Awards Exemplary School 2024/25 plaque.

  • LCA Award:

Well done to Eabha Kelly who received the award for Best Technology result in the leaving cert 2024.

The board will write a letter of congratulations to Eabha.

  • Belong To: 

We are very proud to achieve the Belong To LGBTQ+ Quality Mark in recognition of our efforts to foster LGBTQ+ wellbeing and inclusion.  We are one of only 44 schools that has achieved this nationally. This is an initiative launched by Belong To LGBTQ+ Youth Ireland aimed at creating a safer, more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ students.

Thank you to the whole school community for supporting us in our endeavours in achieving this accreditation.

  • Sport:

Well done to 3rd year student Rachel Beattie who won a silver medal in the 100m in a time of 12.87 in the Leinster schools outdoor championship on Monday.

Well done to our Senior boys footballers, Mr Joyce and Mr Rice who won the Leinster league final last week. 

Best of luck to the 1st year boys soccer team and Mr Quirke in the Leinster shield final next week.

3. Attendance

  • Teaching and Learning Group:

Digital Planning is a post that will involve planning IT for the present and into the future.

We have secured a Teaching and Learning Grant. 

A Digital Literacy team will be established to develop digital literacy overall in the school both with students and teachers.

We will also  look at the advantages and value of incorporating AI and Chat GTP into lessons. The aim is to determine how AI and Chat GTP can enhance the learning experiences and support both students and teachers.

  • Positive Behaviour:

 Teachers are asked to nominate students whose behaviour has improved.

Awards are given out at the end of the month. 

  • Attendance:

We marched towards' better Attendance’ in March, as part of our attendance drive. This year, we focused on class based attendance, as well as individual attendance. This meant class attendance was monitored every week throughout March and class attendance rates were displayed in Tutor every Monday.
